Lisandro Martinez has been the talking point for Manchester United since he arrived from Ajax. On the other hand Erling Haaland has taken the Premier League by storm, but it is likely that the Argentine defender will stop Haaland in the Manchester derby.
Haaland scored in all six Premier League games he was involved in. The Norwegian international is yet to play a match without scoring.
According to The Sporting News, the former Dortmund forward broke the Premier League record with ten goals within the first six games. He also scored in all the UEFA Champions League fixtures he was involved in.
The center-back has lived up to his standards since arriving at Old Trafford. The Argentine has formed a solid partnership with Raphael Veraqne at the heart of defense.
The former Ajax defender previously played against Haaland in the UEFA Champions League encounter between Dortmund and Ajax. Martinez stopped the Manchester City striker the whole match.
Ajax 4-0 against Dortmund at Amsterdam, this was also followed by a 3-1 win in Germany, as reported by Sky Sports and BBC respectively. Lisandro Martinez completely nullified Haaland on both fixtures during group stages.
It is no doubt that Argentine has all the abilities to nullify Haaland in the upcoming derby.
It will be interesting to see how he will handle the Citizens new boy despite the goal record of the latter.
