Manchester United has been searching for a prolific forward in the transfer window. Antony is in Erik ten Hag’s radar and the feeling is mutual from the Brazilian talisman.
The boss spent years at Ajax and he knows Antony on and off the pitch. The Brazilian international does not hide his desire to join the Red Devils to reunite with his former manager.
When asked about his links to Old Trafford, Antony replied: “Will Ten Hag call me? No idea! He has to discuss this with my agents, I’m focused on here. What will come will come, we will see”.
“I feel good at Ajax. I give everything for this club, every minute. So I am loving this city and this club”.
The 22-year-old had previously expressed his dream to play for the English giants. At the start of the transfer window, the veteran forward stated: “Know that I will always stand with you [ten Hag] if you need me”. Antony made this remark soon after his former boss left Ajax.
On the part of Manchester United, the club is desperate to bolster the team. The Red Devils lack depth in the squad and this is evident after the club had their worst start of the season. United succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against Brighton before a 4-0 humiliation at the hands of Brentford.
The boss was furious and admitted that new faces are needed. Ten Hag further expressed his frustration by stating that “I subbed three [in the second-half], I could have subbed them all”.
Manchester United has not given up on securing the signature of Antony. The club is still searching other players before the window closes, including Frankie de Jong who has taken center stage.
Manchester United will be hoping to add new players before they go head-to-head with Liverpool at Old Trafford.
