Manchester United has officially announced the latest arrival – Christian Eriksen. The Denmark international is set to make a comeback of his career after suffering a cardiac arrest during international outing in the 2020 Euros.
Eriksen joined the newly promoted side Brentford at the start of the calendar year. The Danish playmaker registered four assists and one goal during his spell at Brentford.
Tottenham and Brentford hoped that Eriksen would make a sensational return to either London clubs until the player made a surprising move to Manchester United.
The former Spurs player told ManUtd.com that “[matches at Old Trafford have] always been very good. There have been some very tough games in between, but always good memories”.
“It’s always been very special to play at Old Trafford. In general, playing against such a big club like Manchester United, there’s always something with it. Like I said, its going to be weird going on the other side.”
The 30-year-old could make his debut in a red shirt against Brighton in the opening match of the Premier League.
It is no doubt that he will make instant impact with his experience and creativity. Erik ten Hag is a huge admirer of Eriksen and he is certain that he will bring new dynamics in the middle of the park.
When asked about the upcoming fixture against the Seagulls, Eriksen said: “It’ll be very intense and, hopefully, a good way to start off my United career”.
“[It’s] the perfect place to do it, at Old Trafford.”
The no.21 is set to unite with his new team-mates for the remaining pre-season fixtures against Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano.
