Scott McTominay came under heavy criticism during the 2021/22 campaign. The Scottish international was largely criticized for lack of quality, but he is now leaving up to his expectations.
Scott has been impressive since the start of the campaign thereby putting his doubters to the sword. His improvement was evident after the arrival of Carlo Casemiro from Real Madrid as previously reported by United Radar.
The 25-year-old showed class in the previous five games of the Premier League, including the UEFA Europa League encounter against Sheriff Tiranspol. Accordingly, the boss has preferred Scott ahead of Casemiro.
He has played more forwarded passes in a red shirt. Chiefly, the Manchester United academy graduate has also made more tackles in a single game.
Once again, Scott led his national team – Scotland during an impressive 3-0 victory against Ukraine as reported by Sky Sports.
He largely dominated the middle of the park alongside Callum McGregor.
The Sun reported that Scotland will face Ireland in the weekend for another fixture of the UEFA Nations League. McTominay is expected to be included in the starting XI following his display.
He will return for the biggest fixture of the calendar against Manchester City at the Etihad next weekend.
It will be interesting to see whether Erik ten Hag will stick with McTominay or could give Casemiro a start.
