The transfer news of Antony broke the internet on Sunday afternoon. The Brazillian international is close to joining Manchester United after Ajax agreed to open the door for him.
On the other hand, Cody Gakpo has been on Manchester United’s radar in recent weeks as reported by the Forbes. It is still not clear whether the Red Devils want to bring both Antony and Cody to Old Trafford.
Soon after the breakthrough of negotiations for the transfer of Antony, Cody Gakpo dropped a hint amid speculations of his future.
Speaking to ESPN, the Dutch footballer stated:
“Antony to Man Utd? Nice for him, but for me and my future, I think that has no influence.
“It’s like a puzzle so in the next days I will see which puzzle fits best — for me, it’d be certainly not bad to stay at PSV. We’ll see”.
In the event that both Antony and Gakpo join the Red Devils, this will put pressure on the likes of Anthony Martial, Antony Elanga, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho. This will tighten competition for places in the starting line-up.
Frankie de Jong has not been ruled out despite the arrival of Casemiro and the ongoing transfer of Antony.
