Lisandro Martinez is crowned – Manchester United Player of the Month award. The new signing has settled comfortable to life in England.
According to Manchester United, Martinez is the first new signing to win Player of the Month in his initial first month since Daniel James in 2019.
The Argentine international has proven the necessary attributes he has to compete in the English top-flight.
Martinez silenced his critics following concerns of his height. The former Ajax defender is 1,75 meters tall which makes him the shortest centre-back in the division.
The 24-year-old has so far won more arial duels than any other player in the Premier League.
Similarly, in the 2021/22 campaign, Martinez won more arial duels in the Eredivise League with Ajax. Subsequently, his numbers followed him at Old Trafford.
The partnership of Martinez and Raphael Verane has taken the Premier League by storm. The pair kept clean sheets in the previous encounters against Southampton and Leicester City.
The pair displayed a solid performance at the heart of defense against Liverpool. Consequently, the Merseyside club were kept quite during the course of the match.
The club announced the player of the month in the official website. Martinez appears in a short video where he stated that:
“Hi fans, it’s Lisandro here, I thank you for this hour. We keep improving, working hard. See you Sunday”.
The former Amsterdam based defender will once again appear in front of a packed Old Trafford against Arsenal.
