Chelsea vs Manchester United highlights captures the encounter at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening, as both sides shared the spoils during a one all-draw.
First-half – Chelsea vs Manchester United highlights
The Red Devils started on the front-foot and largely dominated the half. Luke Shaw had the first opportunity when his shot from outside the box was well off-target.
On the 14th minute, Antony Santos curled the ball from outside the box following an interchange of passes between Christian Eriksen and Shaw. Subsequently, Kepa saved the home side.
Marcus Rashford missed a glorious chance from close range on the 28th minute. Once again, Kepa came to the rescue for the London based club.
Five minutes later, the Englishman tested Kepa yet again. On the stroke of half-time, Chelsea goalkeeper saved an effort by Antony from close range to keep the scoreline intact.
Second-half
Graham Potter made changes on the second-half and Chelsea improved drastically. The Blues came close to scoring through Trevoh Chalobah from a corner.
The scoreline remained 0-0 until Scott McTominay fouled Armando Broja inside the eighteen area. As a result, Stuart Attwell pointed to the spot-kick.
On the 87th minute, Jorginho converted the spot-kick to hand Chelsea the lead.
The visitors put pressure on Potter’s side and managed to get a breakthrough deep in stoppage time. Shaw curled a cross in the eighteen area and Carlo Casemiro headed home.
The Brazillian playmaker handed the visitors a valuable point in the closing stages to make it 1-1. This also meant that both sides have more draws between them than any other team in the division.
Chelsea remain on the fourth position while Manchester United sits on the fifth spot. However, the latter have a good run of fixtures already having played Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester City.
Raphaël Verane injury blow
Raphaël Verane picked yet another injury which saw him getting subbed for Victor Lindelof. The Frenchman broke down in tears following the incident.
Verane has been unlucky with injuries. The absence of Raphaël will disturb his established partnership with Lisandro Martinez in defense.
Marcus Rashford poor in front of goals
Marcus Rashford lacked composure in front of goals. Similarly, this happened in the win against Tottenham and the draw against Newcastle United, thereby causing the team to drop points.
Erik ten Hag shared his concern on the lack of quality in front of goals particularly Rashford. According to BBC, the boss said:
“First half Rashford had two big chances, Antony one against one. You have to score goals in such moments because in top games three chances is massive. You have to score.”
The team lacked fire power upfront. The absence of Cristiano Ronaldo has had a massive impact. This follows the suspension of the Portuguese for his conduct in the Tottenham match.
In support of this sentiment, Roy Keane told Sky Sports that: “I guarantee you if Ronaldo had played most of the games then he’d be the leading goalscorer”.
The English giants will now host Sheriff Tiranspol at Old Trafford in the UEFA Europa League, before welcoming West Ham United.
