Manchester United reached rock bottom in the start of the 2022/23 campaign. A loss against Brighton & Hove Albion and the unforgettable 4-0 thumping by Brentford dropped Manchester United at the bottom of the league.
The English giants reacted positive in the previous two fixtures against Liverpool and Southampton as they came on top.
Despite a difficult start to the season, we unfold five reasons why Manchester United could clench the Premier League title.
1. New signings – five reasons Manchester United could win Premier League
Manchester United new players have had instant impact. The arrival of Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez and Carlo Casemiro brought quality and new dynamics in the team. Antony is also on the verge of completing a sensational move to Old Trafford.
Malacia has been solid on the left-back. The Dutch international has claimed his spot ahead of Luke Shaw following a top-notch display. The former Feyenoord left-back plays with aggression and desire. He has settled comfortable in the back four of Manchester United.
Similarly, Martinez settled quickly in the English top-flight with his aggression and fighting spirit. On the other hand, Eriksen and Casemiro brought quality in the middle of the park, and this also saw the end of “McFred” combination.
2. Defensive pair of Verane and Martinez
While goals are important in the title race, a solid defense is the foundation to winning the league. A combination of Martinez and Verane was solid and consistent in the previous encounters against Liverpool and Southampton. The consistent defensive pair Martinez and Verane could secure the Premier League title.
3. Our rivals look unease
Manchester City and Liverpool look unease, with the latter having a slow start to the campaign. Jurgen Kloop’s team started with two draws and a defeat at Old Trafford. Liverpool is below the Red Devils and they seem to lack consistency.
Manchester City had a tricky start to the campaign. They were held by Newcastle, following a 3-3 draw, as reported by BBC. Newcastle led City by 3-1 in the second-half and came close to winning.
Similarly, Pep Guardiola’s side were led 2-0 by Crystal Palace. The Citizens scored four goals in the second-half to secure three points. Unlike in the previous season, City is not consistent during matches and their defense is sloppy.
4. Erik ten Hag influence
The boss has instilled tactics and rules all around Old Trafford. He is a top manager and always sets high standards. The players have reportedly stated that the Dutchman demands high intensity in the training sessions.
5. Antony to uplift Old Trafford
Antony is a skillful player and he has shown his abilities at Ajax. His quick movements will bring a different energy to uplift a packed Old Trafford. This is something which Manchester United has lacked since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.
