Raphaël Verane picked up an ankle injury during a 6-3 defeat at the Etihad Stadium last Sunday. The France international was excluded from the squad that faced Omonia in the UEFA Europa League during the midweek.
Sources have suggested that the injury is not too serious. According to Manchester United official website, Erik ten Hag provided an injury update of Verane and other players.
The boss said: “Raphael Varane makes progress, and I hope he’s available, but I think it will be close”.
“From the other players, Harry Maguire [is] not [available] and then it’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Donny van de Beek, both not [fit].”
Van de Beek has been absent since the 2-1 victory against Liverpool at the start of the campaign but the Dutchman has returned to training. Ten Hag added: “He had a muscle injury and so it takes him a couple of weeks”.
“He’s back on the training grass so he’s outside, doing his work, but still individual. He’s not returned to team training so we have to wait for that moment.”
Manchester United official website further reported that Brandon Williams and Axel Taunzebe remain sidelined with long-term injuries.
