Manchester United played a goalless draw with Newcastle United as previously reported by United Radar. After the match, Luke Shaw held an interview with Sky Sports.
The Red Devils dominated large parts of the game but failed to take their opportunities. The match official Craig Pawson denied United a clear penalty when Jadon Sancho was fouled inside the box.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored a goal but it was chopped off by the referee. Accordingly, this denied Manchester United a victory.
According to Manchester Evening News, Shaw said: “I think overall, disappointed [with the result]”.
The English international added that: “Games like this at home we have to be winning these games, especially as a team with what we want to achieve and where we want to be”.
Luke Shaw added that: “I think games like today are very important to pick three points up on, of course we didn’t do that today so it’s disappointing but you know we’ve got another big game on Wednesday, so full focus on that.”
“Yeah, of course, but I think it was expected. I think if you’ve been watching Newcastle this season, you know that they’re very aggressive, very high intensity, recover the balls back very quick.”
“So we knew we had to be sharp with possession and I think a couple of times we were obviously caught out, but we didn’t concede”, the 27-year-old added.
“They [Newcastle United] were very dangerous on set pieces, but in open play I think there’s positives there.”
Luke Shaw helped his team to secure a clean-sheet but failed to snatch a last minute winner when Marcus Rashford headed wide.
The former Southampton left-back will turn attention to the upcoming fixture agsinst Tottenham Hotspurs at Old Trafford.
