Manchester United players have taken the World Cup by storm – Rashford, Casemiro and Bruno shine

Manchester United players have produced outstanding display in the World Cup. Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Carlo Casemiro have come on top for their respective countries.

Rashford received a call up from Gareth Southgate for inclusion in England national team. This was no surprise following his fine form for Manchester United.

The Englishman started on the bench in the opening match of the World Cup against Iran. He was introduced in the second half and made immediate impact.

According to the Guardian, Rashford strucked home on the 71st minute during a 6-2 thumping at Khalifa International Stadium to hand England a comfortable victory over Iran.

The Manchester based forward was further included in the starting line-up in the last group stage fixture against Wales.

He once against scored two goals past Wales to secure a ticket for England into the knockout stages. Marcus was crowned man of the match.

Bruno Fernandes

Fernandes had a good start to the World Cup campaign. The Portuguese provided two assists for Joa Felix and Rafael Leão during a 3-2 victory over Ghana as reported by BBC.

The veteran midfielder scored two goals against Uruguay to grant Portugal qualification into the knockout stages. Bruno was crowned man of the match.

Carlo Casemiro

Casemiro scored on the second group stage fixture against Switzerland to hand Brazil qualification into the last-16. Similarly to Rashford and Bruno, the Brazillian was presented with player of the match award.

The former Real Madrid midfielder showed brilliant performance in the opening match against Serbia during a 2-0 thriller, courtesy to goals by Richarlison.

Brazil will turn attention to the last fixture of the group stages when they face Cameroon on Friday.

Harry Maguire

Harry Maguire has been subject to heavey criticism in recent weeks. The Englishman had an unforgettable season in the 2021/22 campaign. Subsequently, Erik ten Hag dropped him for Martinez.

Southgate made a bold decision to include Maguire in the England squad and the latter has had outstanding performance alongside John Stone.

Harry helped England to keep clean-sheets in the fixtures against USA and Wales respectively.

Luke Shaw

Similarily to Maguire, Luke Shaw had a fantastic start to the World Cup. The left-back assisted Jude Bellingham with the opening goal of the World Cup during a 6-2 thumping against Iran.

The showed his defensive qualities in the remainder of the group stage fixtures by keeping two consecutive clean-sheets.

England will face the African giants – Senegal in the knockout stages.

Lisandro Martinez

Lisandro Martinez started on the bench in the opening fixture against Saudi Arabia. The South Americans considered two goals in the early stages of the second-half until Martinez was introduced.

The former Ajax defender displayed a solid performance in the heart of defense in the second-half but nevertheless Argentina suffered a 2-1 defeat to Saudi Arabia as reported by New York Times.

Martinez was involved in the starting line-up against Mexico and Poland respectively. The Manchester based center-back kept clean-sheets in both fixtures.

Argentina will go head-to-head with Australia in round-16 of the knockout stages.
