Antony is set to leave Ajax to join Manchester United

The Amsterdam based forward – Antony has been the talking point for Manchester United in the transfer window.

The Brazillian international has shown interest to join the Red Devils. He is eager to reunite with his former boss from Ajax – Erik ten Hag.

At the start of the window, Antony stated: “I will be with you whenever you [ten Hag] need me”. The 22-year-old made this remark upon the departure of ten Hag during the course of June.

The veteran striker has been on Manchester United radar. The boss is eager to bolter his squad after a poor start to the campaign. United hierarchy acted with urgency following defeats against Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford respectively.

Manchester United initially submitted a bit worth £60 million for Antony – a little shy of his £80 million market value. The 20-time Premier League champions are reportedly expected to submit an increased offer worth £80 million.

Antony is reportedly pushing a move to Old Trafford. The player did not attend training session and he missed a fixture against Sparta Rotterdam on Sunday in a bid to force a move to England.

Personal terms are not an issue on the part of the player. He awaits Manchester United to submit an improved bit.

Cody Gakpo is still on the cards of the Red Devils. Chances of securing the signature of Frankie de Jong has not been ruled out.

United will now turn attention to Saturday’s fixture against Southampton amit speculations around Antony.
