Marcus Rashford has taken the center stage amid speculations of his contract extension at Manchester United. Erik ten Hag is keen to keep the English international at Old Trafford.
The contract of the Englishman is set to expire in June 2023 at the end of the 2022/23 campaign. However, the clause has an option to extend to a further one year.
Manchester United is preparing a one year contract for Marcus in a bid to avoid a free release at the end of the season, as reported by the Telegraph.
According to Manchester Evening News, when asked about the possibilities of keeping the no.10, Ten Hag responded:
“I can’t answer that question. He has to make a decision and only what we can do is to show him that this is the best club to be in and that is what we can do.”
“He has one-and-a-half years and yes, Rashford will be here for all of that.”
“And it has to do with the culture of the club, but also in the way we are working, working together, it has to do with the way we play, the way we train, are we offering the right environment to progress further on? And it’s also a financial issue as well.”
“So if we do that, if we can [talk] about the ambitions and how we want to fulfil the ambitions etc. such talks we will have with him. And then it is up to him to make the decision. It’s one-and-a-half year, he will be here.”
According to the Mirror, PSG is amongst the elite teams who are hoping to secure the signature of Rashford. The Paris based club are reportedly open to offer a £850 000 salary package for Marcus.
The veteran forward has found his mojo in recent days more so in England colors. He scored three goals in the World Cup including a sensational free-kick against Wales.
It is no doubt that the English giants will try to convince the 25-year-old to stay at Manchester United.
