Jadon Sancho returned to the squad following his long absence. The Englishman equalized against Leeds at Old Trafford during the midweek to salvage a point.

Erik ten Hag confirmed that Antony Santos, Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay will not feature for the return-fixture in West Yorkshire on Sunday.

According to Manchester United media house, Ten Hag said: “I don’t expect [them to be fit]. We have some days obviously, but I don’t expect it.”

The boss added: “If I can oversee it from now, I don’t see any new problems coming up.”

The Dutchman further revealed that the injured trio is unlikely to return for the Europa League encounter against Barcelona next Thursday: “I think same answer, I can’t say for 100 percent, but I don’t expect it.”

Manchester United is yet to see whether Aaron Wan-Bissaka will return following his absence due to illness. On the other hand, Carlo Casemiro will serve the second of his three match ban.

Donny Van de Beek and Christian Eriksen are long-term absentees, and the former is likely to return next season.

The boss had his say on fixture congestion: “With the injuries, if you see Christian Eriksen, you can’t see that as an impact from the tough season, but it definitely is a tough season with the World Cup in between and a lot of overload for the players.”

“That process is already longer term, going on that the load on the players is too much.”
